Training initiative of GBOT
In its efforts to provide knowledge to markets, GBOT has devised a comprehensive professional education in commodity-based derivatives and their underlying markets. The courses would be suitable not only for specialists engaged in analysing, trading, investment management or compliance oversight in the financial services, commodity and corporate sectors but also for others who wish to have a better understanding of the markets. These courses would have a wide-range of programmes for individuals working in the securities and derivatives markets.
The string of courses planned is in keeping with GBOT’s vision to provide awareness for all participants and prospective participants of the Exchange. As part of this initiative for the pan-African markets, GBOT inaugurated the “Launching awareness before Markets” campaign on 10th December, 2008. Mr. J.N. Meetarbhan - Chief Executive, Financial Services Commission was the Chief Guest for the event which took place at La Plantation Resort & Spa, Balaclava.
This was followed by a programme aimed specifically for media personnel at La Plantation Resort & Spa, Balaclava held on the 11th of December, 2008 followed by a two-day course on “Global Commodity Markets and Derivatives” held at Domaine Les Pailles on the 15th and 16th of December, 2008 where people from leading financial institutions, investment companies and broking houses obtained an indepth knowledge about the commodity and derivative markets.
Moving forward, GBOT has planned several courses each designed for specific groups and stakeholders of the Exchange ecosystem.
